Italian journalism uses specific impersonal constructions to report information with appropriate distance: secondo fonti (according to sources) + indicative, si apprende che (it has been learned that) + indicative, si viene a sapere che (it emerges that), trapela che (it is leaking/emerging that) + indicative, sarebbe (would be — conditional for unconfirmed news), si stima che (it is estimated that) + indicative/subj, si prevede che (it is expected that) + indicative/subj.
