'Nel modo in cui' and 'secondo le modalità che' introduce real procedural comparisons with the indicative. 'Come se' + congiuntivo appears in argumentation to present hypothetical scenarios. 'Senza che' + congiuntivo is preferred in formal prose over colloquial 'senza' + infinitive when subjects differ.
