Rule reminder

Every connective encodes a specific logical relationship: cause, consequence, contrast, concession, addition, exemplification, reformulation, or ordering. To choose correctly, first identify what relationship the writer intends between the two ideas, then select the connective that encodes that relationship at the appropriate register.
