Rule reminder
Consequence connectives signal that what follows is the result of what was just stated. 'Quindi' (so/therefore) is the most common and versatile. 'Pertanto' (therefore) is more formal. 'Di conseguenza' (consequently) is neutral-formal. 'Dunque' (therefore/so) can introduce logical conclusions; it also appears in spoken Italian to mean 'well/then'. 'Per cui' (so/which is why) is widely used in informal and spoken contexts. 'Ne consegue che' (it follows that) is very formal and academic.
