Rule reminder

Reformulation connectives re-express the same idea in different words, often more clearly or concisely. 'In altre parole' (in other words) is the most explicit restatement signal. 'Cioè' (that is/i.e.) is neutral and very common. 'Vale a dire' (that is to say) is more formal. 'In sintesi' (in summary) condenses what was said. 'In sostanza' (in substance/essentially) gets to the core of the argument. 'Ovvero' (or rather) can refine a previous choice of words.
