Rule reminder
Adjective-noun collocations in Italian are often non-predictable: 'una vittoria schiacciante' (a crushing/landslide victory), 'un aumento vertiginoso' (a dizzying/steep increase), 'un silenzio assordante' (a deafening silence). These combinations must be learned as units — substituting a synonym adjective often sounds wrong even if grammatically possible.
