Textual Cohesion — Coesione Testuale·Cohesive vs Non-Cohesive Text — Identifying Problems
💡

Rule reminder

A cohesive text uses reference, substitution, ellipsis, conjunction, and lexical cohesion to link sentences smoothly. A non-cohesive text has: unnecessary repetition of full noun phrases where pronouns would work; inconsistent reference (unclear what a pronoun refers to); abrupt topic shifts without signals; overuse of demonstratives; missing connectives. At B2 level, being able to identify and correct cohesion problems is essential for writing.
