Rule reminder

Italian formal writing uses noun chains connected by 'di' (of): 'la valutazione dell'impatto ambientale del progetto di costruzione del nuovo ponte'. These chains can have 3, 4, or even 5 levels. Rules: (1) each 'di' must contract with the appropriate article, (2) gender/number agreement applies to articles only (not to 'di'), (3) ambiguity must be avoided, (4) chains are built right-to-left: the main noun comes first, followed by specifiers.
