Exceptive Clauses — Proposizioni Eccettuative·Reading Comprehension — Identify the Clause Type
💡

Rule reminder

Exceptive clause: expresses an exception or exclusion — something that would prevent or exclude the main event ('a meno che', 'tranne che', 'salvo che', 'eccetto che'). Restrictive clause: expresses a required condition for the main event ('purché', 'a patto che', 'a condizione che'). Simple exclusion: 'tranne/eccetto/salvo + noun' = categorical exclusion of a noun (not a verb clause). Formal legal: 'fatte salve', 'fuorché', 'salvo + noun', 'ad eccezione di'.
