Rule reminder
When 'anche se' introduces a hypothetical (counterfactual) situation, it is followed by the congiuntivo imperfetto or trapassato in the subordinate clause, while the main clause uses the conditional present or past. Example: 'Anche se venisse, non cambierei idea' (even if he came, I wouldn't change my mind). This differs from 'anche se' + indicative, which expresses a real or accepted fact.
