Rule reminder

"Nonostante" can be used in two ways: (1) "nonostante" + subjunctive clause (e.g. nonostante faccia freddo), or (2) "nonostante" + noun phrase (e.g. nonostante il freddo). It CANNOT be followed directly by the indicative. The form "nonostante che" + subjunctive also exists but is less common.
