Rule reminder

Italian reporting verbs are not interchangeable. Key verbs: dichiarare (to declare, formal), affermare (to affirm/state), sottolineare (to emphasise), ribadire (to reiterate/stress again), precisare (to specify/clarify), smentire (to deny/refute), annunciare (to announce), rendere noto (to make known), aggiungere (to add), concludere (to conclude). Choosing the wrong verb changes the meaning significantly.
