Rule reminder

The pseudo-cleft (frase pseudoscissa) puts the new/important information at the END of the sentence. Structure: Quello che / Ciò che + verb + è + [focused element]. Example: Quello che voglio è la pace (What I want is peace). 'Ciò che' is more formal than 'quello che'. The verb 'essere' agrees with the focused element that follows. Inverted form also possible: La cosa che voglio è... / Quel che mi serve è...
