Telling Time in Italian·Meno — Minutes To the Hour
💡

Rule reminder

For times past 30 minutes, Italians often subtract from the next hour using 'meno': 'Sono le [next hour] meno [minutes]'. Example: 2:50 = 'Sono le tre meno dieci' (three minus ten). This is more common in speech than saying '2 e cinquanta'.
