Rule reminder

Formal Italian registers use specific modal constructions: Legal Italian prefers 'in modo tale da/che' and 'senza che' + congiuntivo. Academic Italian uses 'in guisa che' (archaic), 'in modo da' + infinitive for methodological description, and 'come se' + congiuntivo for hypothetical scenarios. Journalistic Italian uses 'come se' for ironic or analytical comparisons and 'senza che' for emphasizing omissions. All require perfect mood/tense agreement.
