💡

Rule reminder

Italian often forms abstract nouns from verbs. The suffix -zione (feminine) derives from past-participle stems ending in -t- (comunicare → comunicazione, produrre → produzione). The suffix -mento (masculine) attaches directly to verb stems (sviluppare → sviluppo, but also sviluppamento; trattare → trattamento; muovere → movimento).
