Rule reminder

Idioms are frozen phrases: you cannot swap synonyms. You cannot say 'sudare otto camicie' (eight shirts) or 'perdere le briglie' instead of 'perdere le staffe'. Every word in an idiom is fixed. When learning idioms, memorize them as complete units, not as composable phrases.
