Rule reminder
Left and right dislocation occur frequently in questions. In left-dislocated questions, the topic is fronted and resumed by a clitic: 'Il direttore, lo hai incontrato?' In right-dislocated questions, the clitic appears first and the full NP follows: 'Lo hai incontrato, il direttore?' Both are common in spoken Italian to signal that the questioned element is discourse-given.
