Rule reminder

Use 'per' to express a duration of time (how long something lasts): 'Ho studiato per tre ore.' Use 'durante' to mean 'during' a specific period or event: 'Durante le vacanze ho riposato.' 'Per' answers 'how long?', 'durante' answers 'during what?'
