Verb: avere (to have)·Avere vs Essere — Part 1
💡

Rule reminder

AVERE (to have): possession, age, physical states (fame, sete, caldo, freddo, sonno, paura, fretta), expressions (ragione, torto, voglia, bisogno). ESSERE (to be): identity, characteristics, nationality, profession, location, conditions that are inherent. Tricky: 'Ho freddo' (I feel cold) vs 'È freddo' (it/he is cold — inherent quality).

Avere vs Essere — Part 11 / 10

Complete: 'Io _____ italiano.' (I am Italian.)
